Google Docs:
Google offers the free and excellent
Google Docs.
This includes a word processor, spreadsheet and
presentation module. There are even free templates to
help you get going. All you need is a Google account, a
web browser and an internet connection. While not as
fully featured as a full copy of a desktop office suite
Google Docs offers a full set of features in a simple
interface. Since the documents are stored on
Google’s servers they can’t be lost. Google
Docs also autosaves while you work - just in case. The
documents can be downloaded in Microsoft format, they
can be printed (see note below) and shared. Google Docs
is simple enough for a young student and powerful enough
for business users.
• Note: To print a Google Doc turn off print headers
and print footers in your web browser. You only have to do
this once.
